The Payra 2×660MW coal-fired power plant project in Bangladesh has successfully completed 720 hours of continuous reliable operation for Unit 1.

At 5:30 PM local time on May 14, the first unit of the Payra 2×660MW coal-fired power plant project in Bangladesh was inaugurated. The Payra project is Bangladesh's first 660MW coal-fired power generation unit, and it is one of the major cooperation projects between China and Bangladesh under the Belt and Road Initiative, which was jointly inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina in Dhaka on October 14, 2016. It is also one of the projects under the $24 billion loan agreement signed during Xi's visit to Bangladesh, and it is the largest coal-fired power plant in the history of Bangladesh.
